In a recent column, in the Parade magazine, a writer asked Marilyn Vos
Savant about the risks of a student being shot in school as compared to
other dangers that children face. In her response, Marilyn really didn't
address the issue statistically, but here's part of what she did say:

"Parents, let's get a message to legislators, educators, and others who
can have an impact on the safety of our schools. What changes would help
to make schools into the protected environments children need? Send
e-mail suggestions to marilyn@parade.com Please be specific. We will
publish a sampling in a future column."
